LPGA Tour women's golf players can win a number awards. Players are also rewarded for their performance, including Player of the Year. Each top-10 finish awards a player a certain number of points. Points are doubled for major championships as well as the Tour Championship. For example, 30 points for first place equates to twelve points for second place. For a third-place finish, a player receives another point. A fourth-place finish earns a player four. For eighth-place, players receive three points. The same applies to players in eighth-place. They receive two points for eighth. The Vare Trophy is another award, named after the player who scored the lowest average during the season.

Louise Suggs founded

Louise Suggs was one of the 13 founding members of Ladies Professional Golf Association. She died in her home at the age of 91. She was a pioneer for women's golf, and she helped create the LPGA tour back in 1950. She is a member of The LPGA Hall of Fame, and the World Golf Hall of Fame. Suggs has won at least one LPGA event in 13 consecutive years, and has won 61 LPGA championships.

Louise Suggs became the first Chinese player to participate in the LPGA Tour.

Louise Suggs, a native of Georgia, won the U.S. Women's Open in 1949, winning by 14 strokes - the largest margin of victory in the event's history. As a teenager, Suggs won the U.S Women's Amateur in 1949 and the British Women's Open in 1949. Bob Hope, a comic who became a prominent LPGA member, nicknamed her "the Great Distance Girl".


Annika Sörstam is the recent winner of an LPGA Tour tournament

Annika Sorenstam entered the 2008 LPGA season much earlier than many. She won the SBS Open Hawaii, and the Michelob ULTRA Open. This was her 70th career success. In the meantime, she won both the Stanford Pro-Am & the Michelob ULTRA Open. This marked her $22 million in earnings. Despite all her achievements, she is still warm and approachable, even though she has accomplished so much on the course.

Women's Senior Golf Tour (LPGA Affiliate)

The Women's Senior Golf Tour is a golf tournament series for seniors organized by Jane Blalock's JBC Marketing. It is not part of the LPGA, but the tour is affiliated with it. The tour has held a season ending championship every year since 2006. LPGA has also participated in events on the Legends Tour. LPGA organizes events for younger ladies in addition to the Legends Tour.

LPGA Tour partners with Dow to create a digital hub called Celebrating the Green. It is designed to help combat climate change. The hub includes information about LPGA initiatives and highlights Dow's commitment for sustainable operations. LPGA will also offer OnCourse(r), sustainability software for its tournaments in partnership with Dow.
