Gina Carano trained in Muay Thai before she began her mixed martial arts professional career. She made her professional debut under EliteXC in 2006. In 2008, she faced the undefeated Rosi Sexton, and she dominated the fight, winning by knockout in 38 seconds. She was able to fight in Strikeforce's women's championship because of her success in MMA.

Her career was in Muay Thai

Although she was never a fan of martial arts as a child, she grew up competing in swimming competitions and found herself training in Muay Thai by accident. Joanne had to take a Muay Thailand class while her brother was at school. It was an instant hit with her. Soon after, she asked her mother for permission to attend the class twice a week, and she began training on her own.


Todd was determined to compete professionally after completing a college kickboxing class. Kickboxing was her choice as there weren't many opportunities for her in her homeland. She loved the challenge of Muay Thai. Todd has participated in many of the world's most important tournaments during her time on the ring. She is determined to compete professionally but she is also very focused on her day job, an aerospace engineer.

Her knockout record at MMA

Gina Carano was a prolific knockout and her 7 wins by stoppage record is impressive. Before entering the ring, she was a Muay Thai competitor with 14 wins. She was proud to have a career high knockout rate of 94.8% and that her first knockout took just three minutes. Carano, who grew up in Las Vegas was an excellent athlete. She played softball, volleyball, and basketball. She didn't intend to fight, but her high school athletic achievements helped her achieve her dream.

Carano's remarkable career KO record is no surprise considering her smaller competition. She has a record that includes 22 wins and 9 losses. There are also nine knockouts. She fought in the strawweight and flyweight divisions and won all but one of her fights by way of KO.
