Sue Bird, Seattle Storm Guard, has been selected for the 2022 WNBA All-Star team. Bird is a former career assists leader and a fourtime WNBA champion. Her selection puts her at a ten-year-old record, one less than Tamika Catchings's 11. The other WNBA All-Stars selected for the game were Seattle Storm teammates Breanna Stewart and A'ja Wilson, both of whom were selected as co-captains. Sue Bird is retiring from the league after the 2022 season.

Vanderbilt, Connecticut, Stanford, and Stanford all recruited Sue Bird. While the latter were her top choices, she worried about the competition in Connecticut. After considering her options, Bird chose UConn because of its proximity to her family and winning tradition. Bird won four World Championships with the team.
