Herb Brooks

Herb Brooks was conceived on August 5, 1937. Brooks was born in a small, Minnesota duplex. During his high school years, Brooks led his team to the state championship in Minnesota. He went on to play college hockey for the University of Minnesota under legendary Coach John Mariucci, earning 45 points during the 1957-58 season. He also played on several U.S. National teams during the 1960s and 1970s.

Herb Brooks' plan to get players to despise him

Herb Brooks, a hockey coach, was born in Davos, Switzerland. He will take over as the New York Rangers' head coach in March. Jim Craig, a player for the Boston Bruins, grew up with Herb in the same house. Craig was paid $35,000 to be in a Coca-Cola spot while playing for Boston Bruins. It is unclear if Brooks' strategy to make players hate him was successful.
