
We have all seen some of the best gymnasts in the world. Some are more known than others. We've already talked about Simone Biles, Larisa Latynina and Elfi Schlegal. These women are some of the best. We have also discussed the worldwide impact that these women have had. These women are extraordinary and have had a profound impact on the sport and culture of the world.
Simone Biles
Simone Biles' dominance of the world gymnastics is hard to ignore. The 19-time world champion all-around gymnast now holds more world titles that any other female gymnast. She has also won more U.S. medals since the 1970s. She currently has four eponymous talents, with a fifth expected to be added at Tokyo Olympics.
Nadia Comaneci
Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci has made history in the sport of gymnastics. 1976 was the year she became the first gymnast with a perfect score of 10 at an Olympic competition. However, because of technical limitations, the scoreboard displayed a single "1" instead of the expected "10." Comaneci went on to score six more perfect 10, earning him the title of best gymnast ever.
Larisa Latynina
Larisa Latynin in sport is a well-known face. She is a passionate gymnast and actively takes part in the country's Olympic preparations. She served as the torchbearer in Beijing for the Winter Olympics 2006.
Elfi Schlegal
Elfi Schlegal is one of Canada's most successful gymnasts. She won a silver medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. Elfi graduated from the University of Utah and was part of the Canadian National Gymnastics squad until 1985. Later, she covered the Olympic Women's Gymnastics Competitions at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
Svetlana Khorkina
Svetlana Kharkina was born in Belgorod (Russia) on January 19, 1979. She was one of the top favorites for the 2004 Athens Olympics, qualifying for the all-around final and the bars final. She also helped Russia take the bronze medal in the team competition. She was part of the 2000 and 1996 Russian teams, which were the top contenders. The 2004 Russian team did not have the same talent.
Kohei Uchimura
Kohei Urchimura is a Japanese gymnast. The Japanese gymnastics team only barely qualified for the Olympic Games after Uchimura was the sole veteran. Although he was last in his first competition he developed a rigorous training program and visualised his techniques in a notebook. He was 17 when he went to Tokyo to train. He was then selected to compete in the Olympics in Beijing in 2008. He earned seven medals in total.
