For the Washington Spirit, it was a long wait. The club was poised to make the playoffs before a series a of incidents caused the league to revoke their title. Richie Burke (Spirit's coach) was suspended. The team was also removed from league governance following allegations that Burke abused players. The Spirit was forced to forfeit two of their games due to COVID-19. They were not able to salvage the season.

Spirit loses to Chicago Red Stars in the final of the nwsl

The Washington Spirit will be taking on the Chicago Red Stars at the 2021 NWSL championships on Saturday, November 20. The match will broadcast on CBS Television Network. Internationally, it will be streamed by Paramount+. The game will begin at noon ET in Louisville (Kentucky) and both teams will try to win for the first-ever league title.

San Diego Wave FC is leading the 2022 regular season standings

San Diego Wave FC now holds the lead in the NWSL regular league standings after three victories in their first three matches. The team defeated Houston Dynamo 4-1 in April 27th and beat the Chicago Red Stars 2-1 in May 7. Kaleigh and Alex Morgan scored two goals each in the Waves' victory over the Chicago Red Stars 2-1.


Courage is a double win for Jessica McDonald

Jessica McDonald of Courage scored two goals against the Portland Thorns in a match. Lynn Williams crossed the ball high into the box and Debinha one-touched it inside to McDonald, who headed the ball into the left side of the net. This is McDonald's 50th career goal. This win earns the Courage league championship and places the team in the final stages of a long playoff run.

Trinity Rodman wins Thorns

Trinity Rodman was a key player in the Thorns' offense after scoring three goals in their last three matches. She has been an integral part of the U.S. national team system for years and helped her country win the CONCACAF under-20 championship last March. Rodman was the star and gave us three chances. She was integral to the team's playmaking. On the defensive side, she dazzled with nine recoveries, an interception, and three tackles.

Wave FC goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan makes her seventh career penalty save. In her last appearance against San Diego, Sheridan stopped three shots and saved two more. On Sunday, the Wave was defeated 2-1 by the Kansas City Current. Amirah Ali scored Wave's first goal in 88 minutes. Ali was assisted by Makenzy Doniak. Kansas City was awarded the lead after 27 minutes due to CeCe Kizer's penalty kick.

Alyssa Moutz quits the league

Alyssa Mautz announced Tuesday her retirement from the NWSL, saying that it was time for her to move on. The Chicago Red Stars midfielder was a veteran of the league since 2003. She announced her retirement just before Wednesday's match. The league has been struggling with transfer activity lately and this move will fill that void. Alyssa Mautz was the league's top scorer with sixteen goals and eight assists in her 10-year career.
