France and the United States have been one of the most competitive matches in women's soccer for the past two decades. The Americans lost 2-0 in the semifinals but it wasn't over. France scored a late goal and went up 2-1. A 6-foot-2 defender, Wendie, headed the ball past Alyssa Naeher. The goal sets the stage for French offensive effort in the second. Nevertheless, the United States still has eight minutes to hold on to a draw.
Results of the world cup Uswnt vs France
France and the United States will be taking on the women's global cup. Both sides have vast experience in big matches and both teams have a strong pedigree. France has won twice, and draw once in the three last meetings. France recently won the 3-1 victory over the USA.
The USWNT walked out of the locker-room with a sense urgency. Valerie Gauvin had her header blocked by Alyssa Neher, the U.S. goalkeeper. Shortly after, the United States equalized with a Sam Mewis goal. France continues to lose possession, so it seems they will enter overtime.
Megan Rapinoe's performance
Megan Rapinoe's performance during the US vs France world cup 2019 quarterfinals was a standout moment. The American forward scored brace and was in full control during the match's opening half. She ran away shortly after scoring an earlier free kick and acknowledged the irony.

Rapinoe scored her goal in the first period as the United States led. She added her second goal in the second half, which proved to be the difference in the match. The United States led 1-0, but France scored a late goal through a Wendie Renard free kick. Rapinoe's goal was her 50th career international goal and helped the United States reach the quarterfinals of the world cup for the first time.
Becky Sauerbrunn performing
Becky Sauerbrunn will co-captain this summer's United States women’s soccer squad in France. The USA is trying to repeat their World Cup victory from 2015. She played every minute in the middle back position during the 2015 World Cup. She was a brilliant player when she was young and now she co-captains the team.
While the Americans may have a better team, there are still new faces in the American squad. Sauerbrunn did make a mistake in the win over Spain that cost her the victory, but she has learned from it. After the game, she acknowledged her mistake and was relieved that her team would still advance to the next round.
Megan Renard's prolific goalscoring record
Megan Renard's exemplary goalscoring record at this world cup makes her a candidate for the Best FIFA Woman's Player award. The 30-year-old is one of France's most decorated players, having won a record 14 French League titles and seven European Cups. Her national team record includes 28 goals and over 100 goals. Renard has been an impressive candidate for the award despite only having played in four matches against France. France's tournament spot was secured thanks to Renard’s headshot in a UEFA Euro 2022 qualifying game against Austria.
Renard has also scored in four of the past five World Cups, a record that is the most prolific in the tournament. She is known for her excellent attacking play and prolific goalscoring. She is a powerful striker with a good left foot and is more than capable of scoring from distance.

USA Sues United States Soccer Federation
The U.S. Soccer Federation is under fire for its attitude in the pay dispute involving the women's and men’s soccer teams. Many sponsors and fans were disappointed by the decision of the federation to hire lobbyists in opposition to the lawsuit filed by women's soccer teams. The women’s team followed a similar path, using social media to leverage uncomfortable exchanges in courts.
A lawsuit filed against USSF provoked outrage in the soccer world when it claimed that the federation was discriminatory and sexism. In response to the backlash, Carlos Cordeiro (USSF president) resigned in March 2020. Cordeiro was succeeded by Cone as president. Cordeiro is still on the USSF board but is now running for president.
