The USA has a long history supporting women's sports teams. Biney, Schmitt up to Edwards and Vollmer are all examples of women athletes who are making waves within the sports world. However, despite all these women's sports team victories, there are some female athletes that deserve special recognition. Let's look at some more noteworthy ones. Biney

Maame biney is an American short-track speed skater. She won bronze at the 2018 Winter Olympics' Women's Short Track event. She was a short track competitor at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. Biney's amazing performance has drawn worldwide attention. Here are some facts about Biney. She is a true champion and is determined win the most prestigious competition in the world.

Schmitt

Allison Schmitt was one of America's most decorated female athletes. After the 2012 Olympic Games she was removed from the national team and world championships. She struggled with depression. She even fell into a deep depression. She couldn't compete in the 2016 Olympic trials, and she even considered driving off the road. She was successful in returning to the pool and became a US Olympic Swimming Champion.

Vollmer

Dana Whitney Vollmer, a five-time Olympic gold medalist, is also a former world record holder for swimming. In the 2004 Summer Olympics she won the bronze medal and set a world record. She was also awarded the Olympic bronze medal in the event and the bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics. As a former college swimmer, Vollmer has been training for years in order to be a world-class athlete. These are five reasons Vollmer excels:


Joyner-Kersee

Jacqueline Joyner Kersee from the USA, a retired track and cross athlete, has won four Olympic bronze medals. She is the greatest long jumper in history and an outstanding heptathlete. She was awarded the 1984 Olympic long jump title. Joyner-Kersee also won silver in the long leap in 1996.

Evans

Aja Evans, bobsledder, was an Olympic medalist with Team USA. She also serves as a brakeman for the bobsled. She was born in Chicago and was an All-American shotputter and track & field City Champion. Evans won a shot-put title at the University of Illinois and was an All American in track and field. After joining the 2012 bobsled team, Evans was able to perform at the Olympics.

Voisin

Maggie Voisin is a female athlete from the United States who is on the U.S. Olympic team this year. After suffering a broken leg, Voisin missed the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. She was unable to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics after she sustained a left ACL tear. Voisin has been out of competition for eight year due to her injury.

Retton

Retton, a 2004 President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports member, was one of many organizations created by the U.S. government in an effort to increase physical activity and encourage Americans to get involved in sports. This council is part of United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health and Science. Retton met his sponsor and helped drop the bill, although it did not become law.
