U.S. Soccer is a member of FIFA
The United States national soccer team is a member of FIFA. The team was established for the first time in 1885. Its first game outside of the United Kingdom was against Canada, a team that the U.S. won 1-0. The U.S. reached the finals of the World Cup in 1934. It played again in Newark, New Jersey the next year. FIFA did not recognize the game. The U.S. won silver and bronze medals in men's football at the St. Louis Summer Olympics (1904), organized by the Christian Brothers College, and St. Rose Parish. This was the first tournament held outside of Europe.
The United States, as a FIFA member, belongs to CONCACAF. CONCACAF manages North American international soccer. The United States soccer association is a nonprofit organization with its headquarters in Chicago. It oversees both amateur and professional soccer in America, as well sanctioning tournaments.

It has represented the country in seven FIFA World Cups consecutively
The U.S. national men's soccer team was nearly non-existent in the international soccer game until 1982. Despite the existence of the North American Soccer League in the 1960s & 1970s, it did not become a major force within global soccer. The United States soccer didn't suffer, however. The United States' first World Cup appearance was in 1982. After losing to Egypt in tiebreaker, they were 1-1-1.
Since then, the team has had a long and varied history in soccer. U.S. football made their World Cup debut in 1990 and advanced to the quarterfinals twice. Today, the team is a leading force in the sport and has hosted three World Cups.
It has hosted two FIFA Women's World Cups.
In 1999, the United States hosted Women's World Cup. It was moved from China, where it had been hosted for the first-time in 1994. The bid was successful and U.S.Soccer successfully hosted the tournament. The U.S. Cup '95 tournament in which the US women's teams defeated Mexico 4-0 was won by the US team. They also tied Colombia. In addition, the women's team came in third, beating Canada 3-0 and earning all-star honors.
The US soccer team has hosted many other international soccer events including the Women's Olympic Games (Women's Olympic Games) and the Pan-American Games (Women's Olympic Games). The international success of the US women's soccer team in the World Cup has helped them make great strides. Tobin Heath (Abby Wambach), Tobin Hart, Alex Morgan, April Heinrichs and Hope Solo are just a few of the well-respected names in women’s soccer.

It has been awarded four Olympic Gold Medals
The United States soccer team has won 4 Gold medals over the course of Olympic soccer. Both the women's and men's soccer teams have won one gold medal and one silver. The first gold medal was won by the US soccer team in 1996. They defeated China in Atlanta 2-1. They defeated Norway to win the second medal in Sydney, Australia. They went on to win three games consecutively.
Women's soccer has a long history of dominance. Canada lost their first semifinal match in Rio. Although they have won more gold medals than any other team, they have not won any World Cups. Abby Wambach still has not considered retirement, but she has used Olympic experience to motivate her team and provide an opportunity to make it better than she found.
